Participating in an online community

My Week 7 assignment was to join two group I like and discuss on group chats. I've decided to join: Alaskanaturalbeauty and We love los Angeles. They are Facebook groups and they both concern traveling which is one of my passion.

The first group (Alaska) refers many pictures from this State, advices for trips and many funny videos. I've commented a picture showing many great places in Alaska. I discuss about best month to get there and if they were any guide trip referring all the best places near Anchorage.

The second group is We love Los Angeles: this group is about people living in Los Angeles and around. They discuss about the city, reviews about restaurants and places to go.

I didn't have many feedback from my participations on those groups. I'm expecting advices and topics about best places to go. I will upload a feedback about this experience later.

Wk6 Assignment

The assignment for Wk6 is about Stats on our blogs. Here are some questions we must answer:

How many total views did you have last month?
-       Last month my blog made 210 views.
How many followers do you have?
-       I have 8 followers.
What are the traffic sources URL’s?
-       Facebook represent 80% of my traffic sources URL, then Twitter and google represent the last 20%.
What country is most of your audience in?
-       Most of my audience is from USA. Funny fact, 2nd and 3rd place are Poland and Ukraine!
What browser do most of your views come from?
-       Most of my views come from Firefox (33%) but Safari is close behind with 30%.
What is the percentage breakdown by operating systems?

Which post had the most views?
-       Wk4 personnal blog post has the most views (57 views).

Why do you think that post had the most views?
In my opinion, this post had the most views because we had to talk about what we care. We had to follow 5 people/organizations who can helps us to build our brand. This might influence our decisions and inspire us. This post was made to make our community know each other better. So, I think this the reason this post is the most viewed.

What can you do to increase views to your blog and increase the number of followers?
Firstly, I think I should increase the design of my Blog. I’m aware that I might consider the design of my blog more important and make it being attractive. Instead of making one announce in Facebook I Think I could do 2 or 3 to remember people that I had a new post. Facebook is my bigger link through my blog so I have to focus on it to increase the views.
To increase my number of followers, I can ask other bloggers to share my blog and tell their community I’ve just started my blog so some support would be welcome. I can ask a partnership with bigger bloggers to share my “best” article. It can helps me to get more traffic on my blog.

WK5 Personal Blog Post

During this Week5 we had a case study to learn more how to deal with Social Media.

This case study were not was I was expecting. I've learned a few things but most of the things on the articles where very obvious and based on old ideas. The 3 lessons i've learned from this articles are:

1) Central and Eastern time zone represent almost 80% of the US population. Companies in California must understand that the biggest audience is situated in Eastern and Central time zone. They must deal with it and planned their posts about the time zone. This idea can be relevant if your company wants to be worldwide.

2) Likes represent people who has likes the page. Talking about this means people engaged and following the page, posting comments and showing their love for the brand.

3) My last point is not a highlight lesson but a question.

How can Zappos reach millions of likes and followers and having only few likes/comments and RT ? They post many times a day for... nothing. Are they posting things relevant ? People might be upset of their frequency of posting because nobody is posting comments or likes.

To conclude, this case study was not as bad as I think. Even if already knew most of the ideas, this case about Zappos is really interesting. A company who's reaching millions of people on their social networks is only having few comments and likes. When we go on their FB page, it's awkward to see that they are not efficient with a millions likes page.

It can be relevant to try to identify this situation and why people are not interested in their posts.
